Communications Director

applications due Monday, February 26, 2024

The Climate and Community Project is looking for a Communications Director. We are seeking a candidate who is ready to kick off our inaugural communications position and work closely with our tight-knit team to articulate CCP’s transformative, world-building policy and research. The Communications Director will support CCP in crafting strong narratives for change, will direct the production of our wide-ranging publications, and will ensure that CCP’s research lands in the press. The ideal candidate will have strong writing, editorial, and organizational skills with the ability to think strategically about how we tell our story to diverse audiences in a compelling way.

As a young organization, we need someone excited to help build CCP up as an institution, increasing our impact so that we can support progressive climate policy wins that provide material benefits to people. The staff team at our growing, relatively horizontal organization works collaboratively on a range of issues. The Communications Director will get to be involved in high-level strategic planning discussions and work alongside our exceptional fellows, as well as support the team in the day-to-day tasks of operating a new, dynamic think tank.

CCP is looking for an outstanding candidate who is aligned with our vision, wants to make a positive impact through their work, and is excited to help create an organization where everyone can thrive. Whatever background you bring with you, please apply if this role would make you excited to come to work every day. We are less interested in the number of years you’ve worked in the field than in the vision and rigor you bring to your work.

  • Demonstrated experience and commitment  to race, gender, class, and climate justice. Recognizes how their identities show up in the work, and welcome, reflect on, and act on feedback with an eye toward continuous learning about race, ability, and other lines of difference.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including prioritizing and managing multiple tasks, with light supervision.

  • Has a campaigning mindset, contextualizing research projects within the political economy and partner ecosystem. Ability to coordinate with multiple partners.

About Us:

The Climate and Community Project (CCP) is a progressive climate policy think tank that mobilizes a network of 40+ experts producing cutting edge scholarly research to design and win our generation’s determining suite of policy interventions. We advance bold ideas to decarbonize the built environment; reorder systems of political power; and embolden a multiracial working class. Our research has been instrumental in the climate policy space from the local to national level– including defining the planks of the Green New Deal for Public Schools, producing housing research that directly inspired the Whole Homes Repair program passed in Pennsylvania, and changing narratives on supply chain justice and critical minerals with first-of-its-kind modeling. We work with our fellows to develop timely research and to help drive the conversation around progressive climate policy.
